NECK LIFT
With the Aging Process, it is aimed to correct the wrinkles, sagging and loosening in the neck area.
It is a surgery performed by stretching the skin, subcutaneous and muscle tissues after removing the tissues that create excess volume in the neck.
Neck lift surgery can be performed alone, or it can be combined with operations such as face lift and facial fat injection if needed.
WHEN CAN IT BE DONE?
Sagging of the skin and subcutaneous soft tissues in the neck and wrinkles become more pronounced over time.
Although neck lift is not a condition that requires any other change in the facial area, it can help to tighten a wrinkled or sagging neck and help the patient's neck and jaw structure to create a firmer, smoother and more elegant appearance.
PRE-SURGERY INFORMATION
Anyone who does not have any health problems that prevent surgery can have this surgery.
A detailed physical examination is essential before the surgery.
The patient should inform his/her doctor about his/her existing diseases, previous surgeries and medications.
If the patient is taking blood diluents and similar medications, he/she should take a break from these medications for a certain period of time under the supervision of a doctor.
The operation technique will be explained in detail by the surgeon and the relevant consent forms must be read.
The use of tobacco products and alcohol before and after surgery is not recommended.
It is very important for the healing process and quality.
HOW IS THE SURGERY DONE?
It is performed under general anesthesia in the operating room. It takes an average of 3-5 hours depending on the procedures to be performed.
Neck lift surgery is performed in combination with an incision under the chin and if necessary, a facelift incision.
Our aim is to remove loose and excess fat and muscle tissues under the skin. In some patients, the submandibular salivary gland under the chin is also intervened and reduced in size. Afterwards, the Platysma muscle is also intervened and stitched and tightened.
If a facelift incision is also required, the excess skin is also removed.
After the operation, a drain is placed to prevent blood accumulation in the neck.
POST-OPERATIVE CARE
The patient starts to be fed and walked 4-6 hours after surgery.
The dressing is applied 1 day after surgery and drains are usually removed.
After the dressing, the use of elastic bandage is started and it should be used day and night for a week. Ice application can also be done in the first days.
The edema on the face and neck decreases a little faster in the first week and then gradually over time. The use of elastic bandage is also important in this respect.
The elastic bandage should be wrapped so that it is not too tight and should be opened at intervals during the day. After 1 week, it is useful to wear it at night for a while.
After the operation, there may be mild pain that can be managed with painkillers.
If the submandibular salivary gland has been removed, diet lists should be used for a while.
Incision scars become almost invisible in 6-12 months.
It is very important to follow the medications to be used after the procedure and the doctor's recommendations.
CAN IT BE DONE WITH COMBINED SURGERY?
Neck lift surgery can be performed alone or it can be combined with other facelift and facial surgeries.
IS IT PERMANENT? REVISION?
Even if the surgery is performed in the most effective way, the aging process cannot be prevented. The permanence of this surgery varies depending on the techniques used, the patient's skin structure and weight variability.
Neck lift surgery performed with appropriate techniques rarely requires revision in the early period. Generally, it may be needed in people who develop postoperative hematoma and infection. In the long term, it may be required as a result of aging and changes in body structure.
